We are closed on Wednesdays.
All other days we are open from 10:30 - 7:00 PM
Relaxing in a weightless state, freed from gravity, in the silent warmth of a floatation tank, the body's own system for recuperation and healing are activated. Yet until this is experienced it cannot be felt or realized.
~ An observation ~
In our daily routine we have our movement and engage in activities while being vertically upright. Here gravity is a constant downward force on our muscles, spine our back and bones, in this ongoing vertically stacked arrangement.
When floating, we are horizontal, here gravity is no longer a variable! All of our bones and muscles float independently. We are, for a time, free from this stacked scenario and here is where our body will “truly” relax and decompress. If you could take a moment to visualize this, you can, just thru this visualization, get a sense of how freeing this experience really is!
Floating is a unique experience lying in a specialized Pod filled with a foot of water and 1000 pounds of Epsom salt.
The buoyancy created by the Epsom salt content allows the body to float weightlessly on top of the water. It is the most effective and incredible means of stress relief and relaxation available. This will make you feel almost completely weightless whereby allowing every muscle in your body to fully relax. Those who float always feel rejuvenated and refreshed! The salt-water solution is heated to skin temperature (94-95 degrees) so you feel warm and comfortable.
"THE ART OF LETTING GO."
Known as R.E.S.T., floating, float therapy and floatation, this experience involves lying in a salt-water solution in a specially designed Pod. It is the most effective and incredible means of stress relief and relaxation available. Floatation therapy is based on a scientific approach to deep relaxation called Restricted Environmental Stimulation Technique or R.E.S.T. for short. The idea was developed in 1954 at NIMH (National Institute of Mental Health) in Washington.
Floating in a floatation Pod triggers a deep relaxation response, much deeper than normal sleep. It enables us to drift into the elusive Theta state, which is hard to achieve.
Floatation REST has many physical and mental benefits because it provides an unparalleled level of relaxation. With the elimination of external stimuli, the central nervous system's workload is reduced by as much as 90%. This reduction draws a person's
energy inward and promotes relaxation--also known as the parasympathetic response. The parasympathetic response is the mechanism by which the body naturally regenerates itself and maintains chemical and metabolic balance. Old wounds and injuries are allowed to heal faster. Increased T-cell production strengthens the immune system. This deep level of relaxation also benefits the cardiovascular system. Known as the vasodilatory effect, the body's circulation is increased while the blood pressure and heart rate are reduced. Furthermore, the elimination of gravity on the body allows muscles and joints to release
tension and heal more rapidly. For this reason, people suffering from musculoskeletal and rheumatic conditions greatly benefit from Floatation REST. Now widely accepted, floatation is also used to treat a wide range of ailments and conditions.
For many years, float Pods were used only by researchers in universities or by private individuals. But now floating has become increasingly popular. The Pod designs are now more spacious and the filtration systems provide an extremely sanitary environment. These more spacious Pods offer extra room for a more enjoyable experience. New floatation research regularly reveals more remarkable benefits from repeated use of float Pods. And best of all, the effects of floatation are cumulative -- the more often you float, the better it is for you! Float Pods and Pods can now be found everywhere, from health spas and fitness centers to hospitals and professional sports clubs
